Cambridge-North Dumfries, On - The Hon. Gary Goodyear is encouraging local organizations that support women in the community to consider applying for funding under the Women's Community Fund. The program seeks to address the economic and social situation of women and their participation in democratic life through community projects.
“Increasing women’s participation and access to leadership roles and opportunities in our city is a very important issue,” said Minister Goodyear. “With a growing population, this Fund is an exceptional occasion for not-for-profit and for-profit organizations in Cambridge to increase awareness and remove barriers and it reaffirms our government’s commitment to advancing equality for women and girls on all fronts,” he added.
Status of Women Canada will focus its support on projects that address its 2009 priorities:
- Improving women’s and girl’s economic security and prosperity;
- Encouraging women and girls in leadership and decision-making roles; and
- Eliminating violence against women and girls
The deadline for submissions to the Women’s Community Fund is September 30, 2009. Application forms and a new Information Guide are available on the Status of Women Canada web site at http://www.swc-cfc.gc.ca/.
