Minister Gary Goodyear Launches Community-Wide 2012 Pre-Budget Consultations
December 13, 2011

Cambridge, Ontario – The Honourable Gary Goodyear, Member of Parliament for Cambridge-North Dumfries, Minister of State for Science and Technology, and Minister responsible for The Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario, has launched his annual community-wide pre-budget consultations.  Minister Goodyear is calling on local residents, entrepreneurs, and non-profit workers to provide ideas on ways Canada’s Conservative government can create jobs, strengthen the economy and make our communities and country an even better place to live.

“These grassroots consultations make a difference.  I remember a constituent suggesting an adult fitness tax credit – a good idea which I shared with the Minister of Finance.  During the 2011 federal election, this idea was part of the Conservative Party’s platform”, said Minister Goodyear.  “In times of global economic uncertainty, I know the people of Cambridge-North Dumfries can play an important role in finding solutions that maintain Canada’s competitive advantage.”

Pre-budget consultations will run from now until January 30th, 2012.  During this time, constituents can call, email, mail or even post their submissions onto Minister Goodyear’s Facebook wall.  Minister Goodyear will also be hosting a series of round table discussions with local business and non-profit leaders, along with a Telephone Town Hall where residents can provide their feedback directly to Minister Goodyear.

Ideas shared will be detailed in a final report and presented to the Ministry of Finance in advance of the 2012 Budget.

Pre-budget recommendations can be sent to Minister Goodyear’s constituency office at 1425 Bishop Street North – Unit 3, Cambridge, Ontario, N1R 6J9.  Individuals may also call

519-624-7440 or email their submissions to gary.goodyear.c1c@parl.gc.ca.
