The Honourable Gary Goodyear, Member of Parliament for Cambridge-North Dumfries, is inviting residents to provide input as part of the Standing Committee on Finance’s annual pre-budget consultation hearings. Businesses and non-profit organizations are also encouraged to participate in this important process, through submissions made in person or in writing. Ideas shared will help inform the Committee’s pre-budget recommendations, many of which have been reflected in the federal budget in years past.
“As the global economy continues to recover from the deepest economic downturn since the Great Depression, Canada has emerged in one of the best economic positions in the industrialized world with the help of our government’s Economic Action Plan. While that’s positive news, many Canadians are still looking for work and the global economic recovery remains fragile. As we prepare for Budget 2012, I am personally inviting residents to make their voice heard”, said Minister Goodyear.
As part of the pre-budget consultation, Minister Goodyear will be holding a round table with leading stakeholders in North Dumfries to discuss ways the government can meet the needs of small town communities, while returning to balanced budgets.
Deadlines to participate are fast approaching. Friday July 29th is the deadline to apply to appear in-person.
All written submissions, which will be shared in a final report submitted by Minister Goodyear’s office, must be received by Wednesday August 10th and can be emailed to gary.goodyear.c1c@parl.gc.ca or mailed to 1425 Bishop Street North Unit 3, Cambridge, N1R 6J9.
