![]() Cambridge - Gary Goodyear, Member for Cambridge & North Dumfries, is going carbon neutral. In cooperation with Tree Canada, the Cambridge MP is one of the first Canadian Members of Parliament to announce that carbon emissions from both his Cambridge and Ottawa offices will be offset through the planting of trees in his own riding of Cambridge/North Dumfries. The announcement will take place at 11am on Friday, August 22, at 1425 Bishop St. North. Both the public and media are welcomed to attend this event. Since being elected to represent the riding of Cambridge in 2004, Gary Goodyear has been a strong supporter of going “carbon neutral” and protecting the environment. “This is an important step in environmental preservation and is an example of real action with real results,” said Goodyear. “Our federal government is committed to protecting the environment without introducing the largest tax grab in Canada history, an approach suggested by other federal parties. I hope that local businesses and organizations will move in this direction as a means to account for the daily pollution we create,” he added. “Mr. Goodyear’s commitment to going carbon neutral shows he cares about the state of Canada’s environment for future generations,” said Michael Rosen, President of Tree Canada. “Cambridge residents will benefit from cleaner air, while Mr. Goodyear will serve as a “green” example to other politicians and organizations.” Goodyear’s plan will result in the planting of 220 trees. With the direct assistance of Tree Canada, a national not-for-profit, charitable organization that has been involved in numerous national programs, including schoolyard-greening initiatives and national re-leafing operations due to natural disasters, the trees planted in Cambridge will mark another moment in the Canadian Government’s approach to cleaning our air and our environment. The approach, which stresses trees’ natural ability to store carbon dioxide from the atmosphere within its wood, will also provide many other benefits, such as more wildlife habitat and visually pleasing surroundings for Cambridge residents. | March 01, 2010 Minister Goodyear encourages not-for-profit organizations to apply for seniors fundingMarch 01, 2010 Harper Government Announces Job Creating Investment in State-of-the-Art Medical TechnologyFebruary 19, 2010 Addressing Cambridge’s Business & Community LeadersFebruary 04, 2010 New research project will improve support for people living with dementiaJanuary 27, 2010 MP Gary Goodyear continues Free CA Tax ClinicJanuary 19, 2010 Minister Goodyear helps Cambridge & North Dumfries gear up for more summer jobsJanuary 13, 2010 Earthquake in HaitiJanuary 11, 2010 Minister Goodyear launches on-line consultations on phase of Canada's Economic Action PlanJanuary 07, 2010 Reminder to Take Advantage of Home Renovation Tax CreditJanuary 04, 2010 2010 Olympic Torch passes through Cambridge, OntarioDecember 18, 2009 Canada and Ontario partner with the YMCA of Cambridge to make important renovationsDecember 15, 2009 Fairness for the Self-Employed Act passed by ParliamentDecember 02, 2009 The Conservative Government is staying on courseDecember 02, 2009 MP Goodyear Welcomes advancement in Foreign Credential Recognition for newcomers to CanadaNovember 30, 2009 Harper Government Invests In Micro-Satellite TechnologyNovember 23, 2009 Minister Goodyear Announces Investment to Expand Juvenile Diabetes Research in Southern OntarioNovember 13, 2009 Celebrating the Start of Construction of Heartwood PlaceNovember 12, 2009 Minister Goodyear Announces Investment to Help Small- and Medium-Sized Businesses Access International MarketsNovember 11, 2009 Our Duty to RememberNovember 10, 2009 Minister Goodyear Announces Investment to Support Ontario’s Food and Beverage ProcessorsNovember 04, 2009 MP Goodyear Welcomes Federal Support for Youth ProgramsOctober 09, 2009 MP Goodyear applauds go transit’s new service to CambridgeOctober 02, 2009 Harper government launches Southern Ontario Development ProgramSeptember 15, 2009 Building Pathways for a Better TomorrowAugust 14, 2009 Prime Minister Stephen Harper launches new economic development agency for Southern Ontario MP Gary Goodyear’s office to host Passport ClinicMarch 08, 2010 Statement By The Prime Minister Of CanadaMarch 08, 2010 Statement By The Prime Minister Of CanadaMarch 01, 2010 Prime Minister Harper and Premier Campbell announce Highway, Bridge and Road Upgrades across British ColumbiaFebruary 28, 2010 Prime Minister Stephen Harper marks closing of Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games |
